Rhine Valley

The Rhine is one of Europe's greatest rivers, beginning in the southwest Swiss Alps, then flowing through the Rhineland and eventually emptying into the North Sea in the Netherlands. The Rhine Valley contains some of the most famous medieval castles, fortresses, and palaces in Europe, some reincarnated as hotels.
