Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, is a city shaped by the meeting of prairie landscapes and the powerful North Saskatchewan River. With deep Indigenous roots and a history tied to fur trading posts, it has grown into a cultural and political hub of Western Canada. Its river valley park system, one of the largest urban green spaces in North America, weaves through the city and gives Edmonton a unique balance of urban energy and natural beauty.

Known as Canada’s “Festival City,” Edmonton hosts a lively calendar of events year-round, from the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival, one of the largest of its kind in the world, to music, film, and cultural celebrations that highlight the city’s diversity. It is also home to the Royal Alberta Museum, the Art Gallery of Alberta, and Fort Edmonton Park, which bring its history and creativity to life. On the modern side, Edmonton is famous for West Edmonton Mall, once the largest shopping mall in the world, which combines retail, entertainment, and attractions under one roof.

Edmonton’s character lies in its mix of frontier spirit, cultural innovation, and a close connection to nature. Whether exploring its historic districts, vibrant arts scene, or the vast river valley trails, the city offers a sense of place that is both dynamic and rooted in its prairie heritage.
